I was surprised how sill plate damages were well hidden from the inside. Installing a new threshold and sill will take between two and three hours. If the wall is not exposed use the drywall hand saw to make a small hole in the drywall or plaster where the repair needs to be made. An interior threshold simply rests on the floor with no sill under it.

Often installed too close to the ground or otherwise exposed to water or insect infestation sills can and do literally rot out.

The sill is the piece of wood closest to the ground either on a foundation or piers and is usually a timber sized board. Continue down the entire length of the sill plate with the applicator filling in either the entire perimeter of the basement under the sill plate or stopping 4 to 6 inches on the other side of.
